This is probably my best work on paper. Probably my last too, hah!. It's just so hard drawing stuff on paper compared to the computer because there's no 'undo' button so I have to plan things ahead. This was done using chalk pastel on construction paper. 24" x 36"

This was originally an assignment from my drawing class done with colored pencils and some acrylic paint utilizing mainly geometric shapes. I can seriously explain every bit about this design! Hahah. I thought it was good enough to be on a shirt so I submitted it to Threadless. Not too sure if people will like it. But who ever does, hahah! :(

So I decided to draw a horse. Then turned into a unicorn. Then drew a leprechaun riding the unicorn. And he's playing polo. Hahah! I decided to use mostly Photoshop on this. That horse was hard to draw. Just getting the proportions right. Good thing it's a unicorn instead. Hahah. :)

This was drawn using compressed charcoal. Them midtones were really tricky to capture like the ones on his clothes. Pretty cool critique from my teacher. She said his clothes and turban drew her attention more than his face, which is completely the opposite of what I intended! But looking at it now, she was right. The dark and lights on the clothes and turban are more intense compared to his face. Like the face is drowned, and becomes more apparent through a secondary reading. Doh! (18" x 24")

Here's my first crack at using compressed charcoal. This is some potent stuff! Hahaha. Not really sure yet what I can do with this. It seems like it's hard to erase and create some gradient effect using this. Maybe I'll do some testing before I make another one.

I made 2 logos to be voted on for the art club here at school! Not sure if them logos are any good. I just draw stuff, then call them logos, or shirt design, or whatever. I think I'll be exploring more of Photoshop these coming weeks. I drew this using my new tablet from a drawing book. And then I colored it! I started with the light up above, but it didn't really look interesting, and I got lazy to change things, so I just tried using fill light to rescue things. Liighting and shadows are horrible, especially on the knight. I thought he'd be easier to color since he's just wearing an armor with a metallic surface. Well, I thought wrong. The highlights are fuzzy! Anyway, I'm very satisfied with.

My latest Woot Mystery-themed entry is derived from the shirt I'm working on for Threadless, just added a couple stuff on the whale, and a laser gun that shoots a LASER BEAM! Pew pew pew! Die puny humans! Interesting factoids about my whale!

Update: For a moment, I was high up in the clouds! I knew it wouldn't last. But it sure was the funnest(?) 20 mins evaahh! But I shall persevere even if the road to awesomeness is paved and riddled with sharp rocks and pointy cactuses (cacti?). Much like the desert. Don't know why the road to awesomeness is like this in the first place. A mountain would've been the perfect metaphor. Doesn't matter. I will be there!

I think this is the BEST thing I've ever done so far!!! Hands down. Yes, it might not be pretty as other people's best, but I really, REALLY like it! I hope the wolves over there at Woot like it. This week's theme is Famous Quotations Illustrated. My design was inspired by the Michelin Man (haha), and this quote,

Yes! 2nd attempt at shirt fighting. I get attached to the things I draw especially now that I make them decently ok. I can remember each character-driven design i've made, and I plan on reusing them in some way. I vacillated between the Lemon and Cranberry shirt color. On the cranberry, the background seems to come alive, but I could barely see the worm. On the lemon, the subjects of the illustration (fish and worm) can be clearly seen. Good thing they let dual shirt color submission.

Summer Series Shirt Scollection!

Dear Aaaarrrgghhht Diary,

I'm not sure if actual shirt designers do this, but I'm making my own shirt collection just for funz and gigglez, and all shirts will be inspired by Summer! It's like a theme that will bind the shirts together, but each will have a disparate look. I'm not designing them differently due to variation reasons, but to see what my "range" is when it comes to artistic style, and to get a good feel which style I can be comfortable with. All these designs are Work-In-Progress shirts! I planned on finishing them up before June, but it looks like that's not gonna happen. Maybe a week or two more? I'm not even sure where I'm gonna submit them, but I will make them as spiffy and neat as I can before I release my babies to the wolves! And here they are in their very early form (click for a bigger picture):

Summer Shirt Scollection 01: Fireworks

A little something for the 4th of July! I've always liked those illustrations with tiny people working inside everyday common items like the t.v. or computer. Here's my attempt at it having tiny people working inside a launched rocket-like firecracker! I'm not sure yet what color shirt to use. Although darker shirts seem to be a logical choice (since fireworks work best at night), but I'm feeling something light colored, not sure yet. The colors here so far are just for distinction purposes and will change.

Summer Shirt Scollection 02: Baseball

I'm not really a big fan of baseball, but it seems like it's the only major sport on t.v. during the summer. When I do watch a game, things seem to get exciting when a batter hits the ball. So this is pretty much my interpretation of "something exciting" happening in the game. This is far away from completion, but I have decided to stick with the creme colored shirt so it can be actually worn on a hot day of baseball action!

Summer Shirt Scollection 03: Responsibility

Well, summer can't always be fun! Hahah. Responsible actions such as summer jobs, summer schools, or maybe even volunteering come to mind. The idea behind this design is that since nature supplies the materials in the construction of today's technology, it's just downright proper and responsible for "technology" to take care of "nature," in some sort of symbiotic relationship. The plan is to have the plants/grass (nature) grow alongside the robot (technology), and where the plant intersects with the robot, some sort of detail will be shown within the intersection. I still don't know how I'm gonna do that, hahaha. But this will definitely be on a lemon! I'm really starting to like designing on a lemon shirt. I'm designing another shirt for ShirtFight, and that will be a lemon, hahah. I don't have a lemon shirt though, so I'm not sure how I'm gonna look wearing it. If I find a lemon shirt with a bastardly good design on it, I'm definitely buying!

Summer Shirt Scollection 04: Daydream

Hot summer day where all you can do is lay on a patch of grass under the cool shade of a tree and wait for that cool breeze to gently caress your sweating skin, hahah, and of course daydream about sky castles!!! Well, this is how mine will look. I even thought out how this would work. That umbrella/webby-looking thing in the back is the Collector. It collects moisture/water (also rain) in the air and it gets stored in that circular thing next to it. A pipe/hose then transfer the water to the steam engine inside the castle which then moves the connecting rod that is attached to the huge gear at the bottom which then moves the giant wing for propulsion. I added some solar panels on the right side (near the big anchor) to power electrical supplies. Unfortunately, it still has to come down to get some fire wood for its boiler. Hahahah! This is not yet done though, not even sure which color shirt to put it on.

Summer Shirt Scollection 05: Heartbreak

What's a better way to end your summer than with a heartbreak? Hahah. This one oddly started with the title in mind: He's HeART Will Never Be Complete. The guy is some sort of an artist displaying his puzzle-like art piece outside for the public, and some mischievous gal, for some reason, took a piece of it. Colors in this one are not set, don't know yet about the shirt color, not also sure on the "style" I wanna employ, and the setting could totally change. In short, don't know where this one is going.

There you have it. If none of my babies get to be printed, they'll probably appear in a KMart or Walmart near you, hahahah!

Dear Aaaarrggghhht Diary,

I turned this in, I think a couple weeks ago, at ShirtFight.com. I really like how the colors turned out. I remember minutes before submitting it the colors were really different, they were somewhat bluish, but I changed it. My friend suggested the tribal tattoos which I think looked really nice, especially on the faces! I mean, why hide tattoos inside your shirt or pants when you can have them where everyone can see? This would immediately establishes you as a bad@$$ right when you walk inside a room. Just look at Mike Tyson. His face tattoo just says it all, "Mess with me, and I'll eat you a like a Caesar salad, all ranch'd up!" Hahaha, I don't think he'd actually say that, but it's the best threatening/smack talk I can think of that he would say. Would I wear this shirt if it was designed by someone else? Probably not! Hahahah. Maybe that's where I'm going wrong with this shirt design thing. I should design shirts that I would want to wear. But I'm really more inclined to wearing shirts with simple designs, unlike the shirts I see out there that win with vibrant colors, very arabesque, and just sprinkled with galore of filigrees. Hmmmm....
